# ASE Academy (Majer Consulting)

> Software you can stand behind. From competent to excellent: 1:1 coaching for software developers, on your code, in your project. Founded and run by Damir Majer, Munich, Germany. ASE stands for Agile Software Excellence (formerly Agile Software Engineering). The website is in German (https://ase.academy/) and English (https://ase.academy/en/).

Facts:

- Format: 1:1 coaching on your own code and in your project, not in a seminar room.
- Shape: Two programs of two levels each, about one level a year. Competency starts with Foundation Level. Excellence is entered after the Competent Level (directly within five years of the certification, afterwards with an assessment), or by an experienced developer with three years of experience, an assessment on their own code and a module they may shape, with the employer's agreement; an iSAQB CPSA-F certificate counts as evidence.
- Revision: Revised every year for years, with the view from research (Prof. Dr. Christian Drumm, FH Aachen) and from practice.
- Foundation Level (FL, lens: Code): The fundamentals no university teaches.
- Competent Level (CL, lens: Design): From working code to maintainable code.
- Advanced Level (AL, lens: Architecture): Owning the architecture of one module.
- Practitioner Level (PL, lens: System and legacy strategy): Owning the architecture of the system and the strategy for legacy code.
- Programs: Competency in Modern SWE and Software Design (FL and CL); Excellence in Architecture and Legacy Code (AL and PL).
- Certificates: ASE Engineer after CL; Senior ASE Engineer / Tech Lead Developer after PL.
- Agentic Engineering: A track of the coaching program for working with AI agents on your own code, beside the levels: six months, 1:1; recommended at every level, without a level with an Agentic Engineering training as the way in; two editions, for developers and for leads who own the architecture; a shared part, then the part for the role.
- Stacks: ABAP, Java, TypeScript. Language: German or English.
- Developers coached: over 90 since 2016, in 10 companies and 4 countries.
- Certification: 53 of the 56 who took it passed (since 2019).
- Level certificates issued: 114 since 2019 (as of 2026-10-02).
- Career steps: At least 60% of our certified developers with a step up in their career (e.g. technical team lead, management, own business), since each one's coaching began (a lower bound: counted where known, as of 2026-10-03).
- Retention: 77% of our certified developers still with the company that sent them to coaching (as of 2026-10-03).
- Agentic Engineering trainings: public one-day trainings, online via Zoom, 9 am to 5 pm Berlin time, in German, for companies (the invoice goes to the company); Agentic Engineering Foundations for any stack, then the Agentic Engineering: SAP Edition (ABAP, ECC and S/4HANA) and the Agentic Engineering: Backend Edition (Java or Kotlin, Python, TypeScript); at least three seats per date.
